There is a similar mindset about folks from the Midwest, especially Minnesota. "oooh, yah, you betcha, hey?" or my other favorite, "Uff-Dah! Lutefisk again?" ugh. I often feel that I was geographically displaced at birth. So now I'm in The South in a small-ish town called Wilmington. Am I still displaced? Who the hell cares. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to start my life over, and I'm very grateful for that. Besides, I couldn't stand the sub-zero temps of Minneapolis/St. Paul anymore. One last thing, do I even go there about overcoming stereotypes about gay people? It makes me wonder sometimes about my friend Kecee who's gay and from Mobile, AL. Talk about having to overcome stereotypes! (he did have hilarious stories about his family, and about going to hook up with navy boys when they came into port) No wonder he drank martini's like water! yikes. oh...glad you liked the Frito's today! :-) You’re not alone my friend.
